Crossrail Technician

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support for complete train systems including TCMS, HVAC, propulsion, braking, doors and onboard communications.
  • Act as technical point of contact for Production and Control Room teams.
  • Optimize train maintenance according to maintenance schedules.
  • Support customers with advanced fault finding and diagnostics.
  • Develop short-term mitigation and long-term engineering solutions.
  • Monitor warranty issues and coordinate with supplier technical teams.
  • Attend faulty trains, perform component replacements and modifications.
  • Carry out root cause analysis of technical failures.
  • Ensure correct spare parts are sourced.
  • Monitor fleet reliability and availability, producing monthly performance reports.
  • Monitor trains remotely using ORBITA.
  • Download onboard train data and perform diagnostic analysis.
  • Run diagnostic software on hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and train management systems.
  • Perform system software updates when required.
  • Support obsolescence management and engineering improvements.
  • Provide engineering support for safety incidents and corrective actions.
  • Represent the service provider during safety meetings.
  • Share best practices and fleet experience from international railway projects.
  • Promote Health & Safety and prepare technical reports.

Requirements

  • Completed recognised apprenticeship.
  • NVQ Level 3 qualification in an Electrical discipline.
  • Experience within the railway industry.
  • Experience using laptops and diagnostic software.
  • Ability to interpret maintenance manuals and electrical schematics.
  • Experience in mechanical and electrical fault diagnosis.
  • Experience performing mechanical and electrical repairs.
  • Strong troubleshooting and evidence gathering skills.
